Just a quick update on the Mount Pleasant Pool Refurb Project –
To date the pool has been acid cleaned and scrubbed and filling is now underway – after 4 days we are over 2 tiles full using City water when it is on and continuing with borehole water for a restricted period on a daily time frame.
If all goes according to plan and at this rate it will take approximately 16 days to fill the pool which is well ahead of schedule (1 September)
The deep dive pool was in a terrible state and vacuuming and clearing of the thick sludge that had accumulated off the bottom is underway. Once this is complete we will have to top up the dive pool as a fair proportion of water is lost in the vacuuming process. This will be done once the main pool is full, and then we will blitz it with chemicals.
All is looking good and although the project has run over budget, we are most grateful to the well-wishers and supporters who have made donations to this project – every cent has helped and we thank you most sincerely. Donations can still be made to our Ecocash number 0784 519937 which will also go towards the annual clean-up of the pool environs prior to the first race on 9th September – if you would like to get involved and give us a hand, please contact us – if you can spare a few hours over the weekend of the clean-up all assistance would be welcome.
