A fantastic day for triathlon today at the African Youth Games in Algiers – CONGRATULATIONS to Andie Kuipers and Matt Denslow on their Silver Medal positions – full race report from Coach Pam Fulton –
Zimbabwe it’s Time to be proud.
Andie and Matt both had outstanding races today and both won the silver medal for Zimbabwe.
Andie was 5th out the water and very quickly worked her way to 2nd position on the bike working with the Moroccan athlete. Tunisia lead from the start and finished first 1:45 ahead of Andie. An outstanding performance by Andie after a long season of hard work.
Matt’s race was so exciting. He exited the water in 5th place and after 1 lap on the bike he was in 3rd place working well with the Mauritian athlete. Tunisia and Egypt were ahead together.
Soon the 2 packs joined and on the last lap the Tunisians chain broke. Egypt, Zimbabwe and Mauritius entered T2 together and very quickly Matt and Egypt were in the lead. They ran together all the way until the last lap when Egypt surged and Matt could no longer respond. Matt showed true determination throughout his race and won a very well deserved silver medal.
Congratulations guys.
The sky’s the limit!
