Dear all Triathlon and Aquathlon Zimbabwe members,
We have received an invitation from one of our very own Triathlon members Mei Gill, a Grade 11 student at Harare International school to support her and her class-mates in their quest to raise funds for a very good cause.
On 2nd APril, HIS will be hosting a 24 hour run.  It is an annual charity event hosted by HIS with the entire HIS family and extended community coming together to raise money and awareness for Zimbabwean organizations or charities.
This year HIS has chosen to support the Zimbabwe Sustainable Clubfoot Program (ZSCP) that works closely with the international umbrella organization “ Miracle Feet”.   To give you a brief insight, in low and middle-income countries children living with untreated clubfoot face incredible hurdles their whole lives.  Because walking is so difficult, they are among the least likely to enjoy the benefits of education and healthcare.  Clubfoot is an easily rectifiable defect with a minimally invasive operation, physiotherapy, and braces.  Funds raised from the HIS 24 Hour Run would go towards assisting children undergoing this treatment.
Mei has invited the Triathlon and Aquathlon family to support this good cause by entering a team … or 2 … or 3 … or 10.   The field is open for 24 hours and the Run will start at 8:00am on Thursday 2nd April and end at 8:00am on Friday 3rd April.  Teams are encouraged to have someone on the field at all times but it is not a requirement.  The goal is to run the distance from Harare to Tokyo … that is quite a few thousand kilometers !!!! so the more people that are present, the better.  At the event, you will be able to buy 24 Hour Run t-shirts or make a donation to the ZSCP.
It would be great if the Triathlon and Aquathlon family to get involved and do our bit to support this good cause so please would each and every one of you support us by coming to HIS and run/walk for any length of time – even a few minutes would be fantastic.  Please let us know what time you would be able to join us and for how long you can run/walk, so we can start organizing a roster.
Thank you Triathlon Zimbabwe for your continuous support.
