TROUTBECK INN RESORT was the host hotel for the 2023 Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup and Multisport Festival and was transformed into the most stunning venue for this event. Our sincere thanks go to the Management and Staff at Troutbeck Inn for their endless support, co-operation and assistance and for allowing the LOC to “take over” the whole resort for the week
As a “multisport” festival, there were races encompassing all aspects of “swim-bike-run” disciplines, triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, aquathlon, off-road triathlon, MTB and Open Water swimming – there was something for absolutely everyone to enjoy.
Athletes from all over the world participated in the Elite Men and Women’s Africa Cup – the biggest field of elite athletes we have had in a very long time which was so exciting for us. We also had Junior Elite athletes from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe who competed in the Junior Africa Cup. Congratulations to all the winners on your outstanding performances – once you have done Troutbeck once – you will be back !!!
There was great excitement amongst our very youngest members who lined up for the Youth Mini race – these little ones are the future of our sport and it was astounding to see so many entries – well done kids !!!
The IGo Corporate Triathlon and Duathlon Challenges were well supported and congratulations to all team members who participated – this is an excellent team building exercise and greatly enjoyed by all – if your Company did not enter this year – best you get training and make sure you enter for the 2024 event !!
Aquathlon was well supported by the girls from Arundel School who fielded 10 teams – we were sad not to have the boys and girls from Peterhouse, Hellenic and Falcon College this year, but hope to see you next time.
Off-Road Triathlon and MTB events were managed by Sheryl and Alan Winterton who spent days prior to the event mapping out and creating the courses – thank you team Winterton and well done to all those who took part.
Thanks also to Tracey Doorman, Charlotte James and the team of helpers from the swimming fraternity who managed the Open Water Swim events, there were races over the 750m, 1500m, 3000m and 5000m courses – not for the faint hearted !! Fantastic support from the swimming community once again, thank you

The Elite Mens event was won by JAMES EDGAR from Ireland, 2nd place DYLAN NORTJE from South Africa and 3rd place JORGE ALARCON FAMILIAR from Mexico
Elite Womens event was won by SHANAE WILLIAMS from South Africa, 2nd place BARBARA DE KONING from the Netherlands and 3rd place ROMANA GAJDOSOVA from Slovakia
