AQUATHLON – BASIC RULES
In the interest of safety and fairness, there are Rules for Aquathlon. In-depth competition rules can be found on website www.triathlon.org. We have however listed some basic rules so that you can compete at our events, please familiarize yourself –
It is the Athlete’s responsibility to attend race briefing and know the course and if not certain, ask an Official
No kitbags etc can remain in the transition area during the race. They must be removed prior to the start
You must wear a top/vest for the run sections, bare torsos are not permitted on the course
You should wear shoes for the run sections
Any individual/team that is taking part in the swim section MUST be a competent swimmer
Obey ALL instructions from Traffic and Course officials
Do not abuse or swear at Officials – this is an IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION
Headphones, Mobile phones, I-pods and glass containers are NOT permitted in any section of the Race
You must not block or impede the progress of other athletes
You cannot have a ‘pacemaker’ on the course or accept any outside assistance
Should you be unable to finish the event, you MUST notify an official or the Finish Table Officials
If competing in a team, the tag band(s) must be passed from runner 1, to the swimmer and finally to runner 2. If runner 2 finishes the event with the incorrect number of bands, the team will be disqualified
If an individual or team is found to have not completed the full number of laps in the run or swim section, they will be disqualified.
