It was an emotional day at Mount Pleasant Pool on Sunday as old members and friends of Triathlon Zimbabwe were reunited and gathered together to celebrate and bid farewell to the the Steffens family, a family who have been an integral part of our triathlon community for over 20 years.
Lionel – more fondly known as Obs, arrived in Zimbabwe and soon started competing in our races back in the 1990’s. Over time he was co-opted onto the Selection Committee, played a huge part in fund raising initiatives not only for Tours but also for Triathlon Zimbabwe, and for many years was a season sponsor with Introwise Catering who also managed the catering for our season events.
Obs, Sophia, Jessica and Luke, you will all be missed here in Zimbabwe but we know we will meet up at another place for another race one day soon!
