It is with immense pride and great pleasure that Triathlon Zimbabwe confirms that GABRIELLE DUMONT DE CHASSART, a pupil at Hellenic Academy, will be representing Zimbabwe in the Junior Women Sprint Event at the ITU WORLD TRIATHLON GRAND FINALS in Cozumel, Mexico from 10th – 18th September 2016.
Following her recent 4th place at the ATU Triathlon Africa Championships in Bloemfontein in March, Gabrielle secured a slot for Zimbabwe at the World Grand Finals. It must be noted that at Africa Champs, Gabrielle was racing as an Under 17 athlete against Under 19 counterparts, a scenario that will be repeated at the World Grand Finals in September.
In addition to her academic studies, Gabrielle has continued to train throughout the winter off-season period and as a pre-cursor to her participation at the World Championships she will be travelling to South Africa in August to participate in the Mandela Day Triathlon being held at Midmar Dam in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
In recognition of her commitment to the sport and her outstanding achievements, we would also like to confirm that Gabrielle has been awarded National Junior Colours for Triathlon.
National Junior Colours have also been awarded to Gideon Benade (Peterhouse Boys School), Rupert Anschuetz (Peterhouse Boys School) and Alex Colegrave (Hellenic Academy)
National Youth Colours have been awarded to Andoni Mutzuris (Hellenic Academy), Brett Elliott (Peterhouse Boys School) and Jamie Lee Soper (Peterhouse Girls School)
