Just touching base with the Triathlon Family – we hope that you are all keeping safe and healthy during these extremely frustrating times and hope that we will see some light at the end of the tunnel in the not too distant future.

As you will know by now, the National Level Lockdown has been extended a further 2 weeks until 15th February and as a result, our scheduled event for Sunday 7th February has to be cancelled.  This is extremely frustrating for everyone involved but we have to comply with the rules and regulations.  We are in constant contact with SRC trying to get approval for resumption of our sport and will keep you updated should we receive a positive response.

Internationally, triathlon events have either been cancelled or postponed until further notice, this includes SA Champs in Durban, Junior Africa Cup events at Maselspoort RSA and Shandrani, Mauritius and also the African Championships in Sharm el Sheik, Egypt – rescheduled dates are still to be confirmed and we will keep you posted on all developments as they are released.  This is a great disappointment for all our Youth and Juniors who were doing so well in the selection events – do not lose hope or heart, keep training and keep active and remember that there are also other young athletes all over the world in the same situation.  KEEP POSITIVE !!

It is hoped that the events we have on our calendar for March may possibly resume but we just do not know what will be permitted until after the next Lockdown review – the board will be meeting to discuss various options in regard to what is left of the 2020-2021 season.  Troutbeck is taking place on Saturday 25th September and all the planning and preparations are continuing with the full support of our sponsors and partners.

In the meantime, keep training as best you can – you are allowed to ride your bikes and go running as individuals – have a great week ahead, keep safe and keep well – Wear your face masks, sanitise, wash your hands and keep social distancing.
